Wanda Posey

The Light of my Life

By eric posey

The former Wanda Mae Cannada was a native of Temple Texas.  Daughter of Nora Mae Harper and Harvey Clarence Cannada, both deceased.  Wanda attended Temple High School, The University of Texas, University of Houston, Houston Baptist University, and Jung Institute of Houston.  She is survived by her loving husband Eric F Posey, a niece by a former marriage, Karen Thomas, a nephew Lee Hemphill, a great niece Tina Belton and numerous cousins.

She was a previous long time member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church , Houston, Texas where she served as an officer of the Official Board, a Teacher, and Youth Counselor.  She was a current member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin Texas.

Most of Andreas-Posey's professional life was in oil and gas related businesses.  She was formerly Corporate Secretary of Computer Graphics, Inc (ASE), served on the Board of Directors of two title companies, and was last employed by Gulf Applied Technologies (NASDAQ) of Houston as Manager of Oil and Gas Producing Properties in Texas and Louisiana.  She had been employed earlier in various subsidiaries of GATI as Geophysical Assistant, Government Regulations Compliance Manager, and Permitting Supervisor.   After retirement, Andreas-Posey did contract consulting and freelance writing.

She worked tirelessly to advance women in professional life and for legislation to equalize the status of women legally and politically.  She served on the Planning and Zoning Commission of Spring Valley Village in Houston and various charitable organizations and received the Golden Key award from the Houston Chamber of Commerce.  After retirement, she served on the Board of Trustees of The Isis Institute of Women's Studies in Austin.

She had a great respect for the beauty of nature and all of God's creatures, which was reflected in the articles and stories she wrote.  Devoted to helping friends, relatives and often strangers, through difficult times.  She will be missed greatly by her husband, relatives and friends.
