Nancy Jean Salvucci
1954-2016
Nancy Jean Salvucci, 61, passed away peacefully at home in Santa Barbara, California, on September 20th, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on November 16, 1954, in Santa Barbara to Mary and Gene Forssell. She was the youngest of three children.

A lifetime resident of Santa Barbara, Nancy grew up in Mission Canyon surrounded by majestic oaks, old stone walls and the Santa Barbara Mission. Inspired by Santa Barbara’s natural beauty, Nancy’s interests led her to volunteer at Lotusland and serve on the Board of Directors at Casa del Herrero.
Nancy established Garden Lane, an estate touring company showcasing local architects, interior designers and landscape architects’ projects. She was Home and Garden editor for many local magazines. In 2004, Nancy founded her own online publication, SB Digs, a popular Santa Barbara lifestyle magazine. Through her businesses, Nancy formed meaningful relationships with local artisans and business owners.

We will miss your positive spirit, broad-reaching intellect, your mischievous skepticism (usually with a smile), your thoughtfulness and most of all your love. Rest in peace dear friend... we will cherish our memories with you, especially our times together on the boat in New England. Love forever- Chris and Bob

This complex friend has left a hole in our lives. Nancy whose gifts were many will be on our minds so often in the future and we will forget for a moment that we cannot just reach out to her. Nancy could always be turned to for her frank and honest assessment of situations. Nancy who appreciated inspired wit and could tell a story that would make you laugh. Nancy who was there for you to tell you what you needed to hear but who would shed a tear with you. Nancy owned a sense of style and aesthetic to put the best to shame. Nancy had such strength of character and mind and yet held such a vulnerable softness and large heart. For those who were never graced with this wonderful friend, I can only say that you truly missed out on knowing a very remarkable woman that we all respected and adored. Nancy you will be very sorely missed.
