Which is better: the book or the movie?

Well, this is one of the most cosmic questions of all time. Both the book and the movie were exquisite, enlightened by an expansive view of what a childhood becomes when reviewed through the prisms of memory. For some reason, it's the opening credits of the movie that always make me cry: the anonymous child's meditative singing, playing, humming, the Joseph Cornell-like box of precious objects representative of innocence, loss, and coming catastrophe...
