Nana Lee Surrett

Her Beautiful Smile, Candid Spirit Will be Forever Remembered

Nana Lee Surrett, daughter of Robert Glennie McNeil and Margaret Loney Green, was born on March 8, 1941, in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She departed this life on July 5, 2009, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Nana Lee received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Cordesville United Methodist Church, where she served in the following capacities: Finance Board Member, Church Usher, Hospitality Committee Member and United Methodist Women Chairperson.

Nana Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to David D. Surrett, Sr. on March 21, 1959. This union was blessed with five children. Her husband; father and mother; brother, Glennie McNeil Jr.; and a grandson, David G. Surrett, preceded her in death.

Nana Lee's beautiful smile and candid spirit will be forever remembered and loved. Those left to cherish her memories include: five sons, David Surrett Jr. of Killeen, TX; Ronald Surrett of New York City, NY; Sylvester Surrett of Moncks Corner, SC; Morris Surrett of New York City, NY; and Emanuel Surrett of Suffolk, VA; three daughters-in-law, Phyllis Surrett, Sheri Surrett and Shannon Surrett; her grandchildren, Jermaine, Jasmine, Tiarra, Sara and Darius; five step-grandchildren, Michael, Mari, Cedric, Kalev and Toree.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Marshall McNeil, nieces Ju-Don Marshall Roberts and Ebony Marshall, nephew Jumain Wilson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
