Remembering Pauly
Paul Ridley Jr. 1981-2013
"Those who go are never gone."
My brother Paul will always be remembered by our family for how precocious he was as an adolescent. Dealing with a young Paulie you never knew what the day was gonna bring.
I remember when he was around 5 years old. He was getting disciplined by our Mom and she told him to go to his room and sit on the bed. My Mother was in her bedroom and I was in the hallway right in front of the room Paul and I shared. I felt the need to tease him for finally getting punished for his behavior. So I stood in the hall and proceeded to look at him and smirk. Paulie, frustrated from not being able to leave the room yelled to my Mom. "Mommy, you better come get Tashe, 'cause I'm gonna hurt her for standing there looking at me with that stupid 'ground' on her face." I immediately fell to the floor and laughed harder than I can remember in my life. That 5 year old kid had blended the word "grin" and "frown" in his frustration. He was so adorable with his seriousness and conviction that he owned that word. Thinking about it now, I'm smiling.
Thinking about a lot of Paul's stunts, I smile. And that is one of many stories that I will share with his daughters. I love you, Little Bro'. You are loved and missed dearly.
