Brenda Joyce Marteny James died Saturday, Oct 1 2016 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL after a short battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Brenda was the daughter of Neil and Venola (Shahan) Marteny who proceeded her in death. Brenda is survived by her son, Brian Lee James and his wife Ellis and her granddaughters Celesteal Bliss James and Bethanie Zane James of Bedford, TX. Also surviving is her long time partner, Howard Garrison of Hawthorne, FL. Two brothers, Roger Neil (Sharon) Marteny Bridgeport, WV and Nelson Keith (Kathleen) Marteny Ft Myers, FL. Three sisters, Shirley Jean Wheeler Akron, Ohio, Carol Sue Wheeler Clarksburg, WV and Linda Rose James Lake Butler, Florida. She was also proceeded in death by three sisters, Barbara Ann  Marteny, Nancy June Stout and Terry Jo Johnson and two brothers, Steven Dale Marteny and Randy Dean Marteny. Brenda worked for many years as a Florist. Her love for plants and flowers was still evident at the time of her death. She was also very creative and enjoyed doing many types of sewing and crafts. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
