Ned carries a wedding proposal from Robert
Winterfell
At the age of sixteen Ned spends just as much time in the Eyrie as he does in Winterfell. On one particular visit to his birthplace, he carries a marriage proposal from his good friend Robert Baratheon to his younger sister Lyanna Stark. Ned's father, Rickard, agrees to this proposal and betroths his only daughter to Robert. -
Lyanna expresses some doubts to Ned
Winterfell
Lyanna tells her older brother Ned that she believes Robert will never be faithful husband. She claims to have heard of Robert's bastard daughter and is worried about his possible infidelities if they were to be married. This shows some of Lyanna's doubts which may prove important in the future. -

Rhaegar Targaryen makes a bold choice
During the Tourney at Harrenhal Prince Rhaegar Tagaryen won the jousting competition by beating Lord Yohn Royce, Brandon Stark, Ser Aurthur Dayne, and finally Ser Barristan Selmy. After his victory Rhaegar chose to name Lyanna Stark, Ned's sister, as the "new queen of love and beauty" rather than his own wife Elia of Dorne. This was an extremely controversial act, which Ned later called "the moment when all smiles died." -

Brandon and Rickard Stark are sentenced to death
King's Landing
After being summoned to King's Landing and arrested by Mad King Aerys, Rickard Stark demands a trial by combat. Aerys agrees but chooses fire as the his Targaryen champion to face Rickard. The Mad King suspended Rickard from the rafters and began burning him with wildfire. Brandon was brought into the throne room attached to a leather strangulation device. A sword was placed just beyond Brandon's reach and as he struggled to grab it in order to save his father, he strangled himself to death. -
King Aerys II Targaryen demands the heads of Ned and Robert
After executing Rickard Stark and his eldest son, Ned is left as the oldest heir and therefore the Lord of Winterfell. The Mad King decides that he is not done with his killing spree yet and tells Jon Arryn to turn over Ned and Robert Barathean to be executed. Jon Arryn refuses to give up his wards and instead raises his banners in rebellion against the king. -
Ned Travels from the Vale to the North to gather an army
Ned risks his life multiple times as he journeys across the Mountains of the Moon to the Fingers and from their takes a boat to the Three Sisters. He could not take the straight shot to Winterfell because the Vale's major port, Gulltown, remained loyal to the Mad King. Finally making it back to the North, Ned gathers his troops and heads south to the Join the Baratheon and Arryn forces who by that time have already taken Gulltown. -
Ned saves the day at the Battle of The Bells
Stoney Step
Part of the loyalist army lead by the hand of the king Jon Connington was pursuing a wounded Robert Baratheon and his army. The loyalists hoped to catch them before they met up with the other rebel armies. Robert was hiding out while the loyalists searched the town of Stoney Step to find and kill him. Just in the nick of time Ned came to the rescue along with the Tully army. Their combined forces stormed Stoney Step and allowed Robert the chance to lead a counter attack as well. The Loyalist army retreated and Jon Connington was exiled by the Mad King. -
Ned marries Catelyn Tully!
Riverrun
Catelyn Tully had originally been betrothed to Ned's older brother Brandon, but because that hadn't worked out so well Ned was able to slip in. Ned went to Riverrun for the ceremony and got married along side his mentor Jon Arryn who took Catelyn's sister, Lysa, as his wife. This double marriage ceremony officially added House Tully to rebel cause. -
The Battle of The Trident
The Trident
Rhaegar Targaryen himself was called in by his father to lead the entire loyalist forces and end the rebellion once and for all. His army met the entire remaining rebel army at The Trident, a large river in the River Lands. During this battle Robert Barathean slid Rhaegar Targaryen in one on one combat, smashing in his chest with a giant war hammer. However, Robert was wounded in this fight so after the rebels one the battle, Eddard was chosen to lead the army to King's Landing. -
Eddard Stark arrives at King's Landing
King's Landing
After the Battle of the Trident, Eddard stark lead the remaining rebel troops after the loyalists fleeing to King's Landing. By the time Ned arrived, the Lannister army, which had remained neutral until they knew which side would win, had already sacked the city in the name of the rebellion. Ned was outraged by the way Tywin Lannister had taken the city through treachery and killed the children and wife of Prince Rhaegar. He was also shocked when he walked into the throne room to see Jamie Lannister, the head of the Aerys' King's Guard sitting on the Iron Throne with the Mad King dead on the floor in front of him. When Robert did not share the same moral outrage as Ned, their friendship hit a major roadblock. -
Ned ends the siege at Storm's End
Storm's End
Soon after the Lannisters had taken King's Landing, Ned took a force to end the siege of Storm's End. Robert's younger brother Stannis Barathean had held the castle for almost a year while Mace Tyrell and his army seiged in the name of the Mad King. Once Ned and his men arrived, the Tyrell army surrendered without a fight. -
Ned goes to retrieve his sister from the Tower of Joy
Dorne
Ned and six other men, including Howland Reed, travel to Dorne to save Lyanna Stark from where Rhaegar Targaryen had placed her. When Ned's small group arrive at the Tower of Joy, three members of the King's Guard including Ser Aurthur Dayne are outside. A melee commences and the only survivors are Ned Stark and Howland Reed. Once Ned gets inside the tower he finds his sister in "a pool of blood," which an be interpreted in many different ways. As Lyanna dies she makes Ned promise her something. -
Natalie Dewdney
Eldest child and son to the late Eddard (Ned) and Catelyn Stark. Heir to House Stark. Named King of the North after the death if his Father. Married Talisa Maegyr from Volantis in a secret ceremony. Subsequently killed at the massacre which was the "Red Wedding" under conspiracy with house Lannister and house Frey. Surviving siblings at the time of death: Sansa Stark, Ayra Stark, Brandon Stark and Rickon Stark. Jon Snow, though raised as a son of Ned Stark, Robb's brother is really Aegon Targaryen, son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, Ned's nephew and Robb's cousin.- (1)

King Robert asks Ned to be his new hand of the king
Winterfell
Robert came all the way down to Winterfell to ask a favor of his old friend Ned. Now that Jon Arryn is dead, Robert feels that Ned is his most loyal friend and best choice for hand. Ned really doesn't want to leave Winterfell and his wife but he begrudgingly agrees. -
Lysa Arryn sends a letter of warning
Winterfell
Lisa Arryn, Catelyn's sister send a letter of warning to the Starks claiming that the Lannisters had been involved with her husband, Jon Arryn's, death. Catelyn is extremely worried and begs Ned not to go. Being the loyal man he is Ned says he has a duty to serve his king and decides to go to King's Landing anyway. -

Catelyn follows Ned to Kings Landing to tell him important news
Kings Landing
Littlefinger tells Ned that Catelyn had followed him to Kings landing and is waiting for him in his brothel. After nearly killing Littlefinger for the insulting his wife's honor he is happy to see Catelyn again. She tells him that another attempt had been made on his son Bran's life. This time the man had been carrying a dagger that belonged to Tyrion Lannister. -

Ned and Robert have a huge argument and Ned resigns as hand
King Robert and Ned become at odds when Robert wants to send an assassin after the young Daenerys Targaryen. Ned thinks that she is just a girl and is no real threat to Robert. When Robert wont budge on his decision, Ned resigns as hand of the king. -

Ned figures out the shocking truth about Robert and Cersei's children
After Sansa makes a comment about Geoffrey being nothing like Robert he makes the realization that none of Roberts children are actually his own. Instead Ned suspects them to be a product of incest between Cersei and Jamie Lannister. -
