My Dad died peacefully at 10:20 am in New York Thursday, October 27, in the hospice of the Mary Manning Walsh nursing home on 72nd and York. He had been there since last Tuesday, following his discharge from Lenox Hill Hospital.  He was 86.

The heart attack he suffered in mid-September caused brain damage, and it was the consequences of that that ultimately claimed him.

The funeral service will occur at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 316 E. 88th St. in Manhattan, this coming Friday, November 4. Details will follow.

Dad was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and spent his adult life in Manhattan. Tonight, there is another New Yorker in heaven, a place where I trust cigars are allowed (at least for him) and where you can talk about politics all day long.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I must add that I am grateful for all the support you have given me over the last six weeks. It's been one of the most stressful periods of my life, and your kindness and messages and calls and meals have helped me get this far.
