    Michael J. Ready's Life

    District of Columbia
Michael J. Ready, known to us kids as Uncle Michael (even though he was Mother's uncle and our Great Uncle), was born and lived in Ohio and Washington, D. C. He was an important part of the Ready family. He was the one brother to four sisters. His life was full as he was ordained a Catholic priest September 14, 1918, consecrated a Roman Catholic Bishop December 14, 1944. He died May 2, 1957.

During his life he made such an impression - upon his death both the U. S. Senate and the U. S. House of Representatives paid tribute to him in the Congressional Record. He delivered the Benediction at President Franklin D. Roosevelt's --- inauguration.

After graduating from Seton Hill College, Greenburg, Pennsylvania, Eleanor went to Washington, D. C., to work for Uncle Michael at the National Catholic Welfare Conference. She worked in the Public Relations Office.
