Betty Sue Kitchen

Elizabeth “Betty” Sue Kitchen, 80, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017, at JoLin Health Care Center.

She was born May 17, 1936, in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late Homer and Nellie Elizabeth Day Kazee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Christopher Houston Kitchen in 2016; a son, Stephen Michael Kitchen in 1994; and five brothers, Ed, Vernon, Claude, Bill and Charles Kazee.

Betty was a member of St. James Methodist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and First United Methodist Church in Ashland; she retired from the business office at King’s Daughters Medical Center and she and her husband owned and operated Mr. Billiard’s in Ashland and Cue Time in Bowling Green.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Liz Kitchen of Ashland; granddaughter, Sarah Stephens and husband, Jeremy of Greenup; sister, Lillian Pruitt of Ashland; great grandchildren, Noah, Layden, Rachel, Abigail and Jeremy, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Reverend Don Young officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
