Richard loved God, his family, and his country
Richard Eugene Donley, age 77, USAF, retired, died peacefully at the San Antonio, TX Military Medical Center on Sunday, June 5, 2016. surrounded by his devoted family and church family. Survivors include his wife, Bettye Holliday Donley, daughter, Dawn Donley Wygal, son-in-law Todd Wygal, 2 sons, Berwyn Arnold Donley II, and Richard Alan Donley. 4 Grandchildren: Jonathon Todd Wygal, Brittany Michele Wygal Grubbs (Barry Grubbs), Sydney Elizabeth Donley and Taylor Michelle Donley, 3 Great- grandchildren Kaleigh, Khloe, and Colton Grubbs; his sister Charline Donley Cook (brother-in-law John Cook) and numerous nieces and nephews.
SMSGT Donley, a 30 year veteran, served his country as a Computer Analyst which included overseas tours of duty in Sado Shima, Japan; Brize Norton, England; NKP, Thailand; Athens/Hellenikon, Greece; Java, Indonesia; and Incirlik, Turkey with CONUS assignments at Columbus AFB, MS; Ellsworth AFB, SD; Tyndall AFB, FL; and Homestead AFB, FL. His final military mission was an assignment to serve as the first Deputy Director of the Homestead AFB, FL Family Support Center. Upon retirement, he worked at Raytheon at Patrick AFB, FL. He later followed his wife’s career, holding federal positions in Germany at Butzbach, Giessen, Darmstadt, and Bad Abling Station.
First Baptist Church of Schertz, TX held a memorial service celebrating Rich’s life on Thursday, 9 June 2016 at 6:30 PM with Dr. Ben Craver officiating. Grave-side services and interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetary on July 1st at 9:35 AM. Steve Rafcoe will officiate the Christian Funeral service. Masonic rites were arranged by Clay Helton and Brother Masons. An honor guard will be provided by Hurlbert Field.
