LifeStory

Chris Eickholt

My son was just 2 years old when his father died by suicide. We had several warning signs prior to his death, but I don't think we ever could have braced ourselves for the finality of Chris's death. He was 30 years old.

Chris was a funny, intellectual, competitive, smart, and loving guy. He enjoyed being with his family, his dog, his friends, the gym, and his most cherished son. Chris had a strong heart and felt deeply in his strengths and his weaknesses. He loved to laugh and be around people who made him laugh, play basketball with friends, work out at the gym, take trips to the beach, take his dog for walks, and spend time with his son.

If we had one last chance to speak with Chris, surely we would tell him how loved and appreciated he was and how forever was an awfully long time to say goodbye. We wish Chris could be here today to embrace the missed milestones that have passed with his son and meet his nieces. He was a great dad and his son would have loved to know him. We hope Chris's life and legacy can be a reminder of how precious life is. That even when things seem to have hit rock bottom, there are always people who will lift you up and things will always get better. You are worth it. Your life is worth it. And there are always people who would fight tooth and nail to keep you here. We wish you were here.
