LOU MAE RAY

Lou Mae Ray 96, passed away July 29, 2017. She was born March 3, 1921, Louise 

Mae Sloan in Dayton Washington to Odes and Grace Sloan. She had two brothers, 

her older brother Max, and a younger brother Doug. Her family moved to 

Kennewick Washington where she attended school, and graduated from 

Kennewick High.

She got married moved to Oregon, and had two sons Robin, and Gary, the marriage

did not last and she and her sons moved from Oregon back to Kennewick 

Washington. She had meet Gene Ray and fell in love and they were married on 

December 5, 1952. They moved to Ohio and they had three children, Cyndee, 

Harry and Grace. In 1965 the family moved to Las Vegas.  Lou Mae was active in 

the Republican Women Group and later joined the Daughters of the Revolution, the

Valley of Fire Chapter.  She also was very involved in her church, Christ Church 

Episcopal.

Lou Mae’s life was blessed with a large and loving family, she had 5 children, 7 

grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Lou Mae was preceded in death by her 

parents, her son Robin, her husband Gene, her brother Doug, and two days before 

her passing her older brother Max passed away, and her daughter Cyndee said that 

Uncle Max had stopped by to pick her up for they could go together. She will be 

greatly missed by many.  A celebration of life will be at Christ Church Episcopal, 

2000 S. Maryland Pkwy on August 29, 2017 at 11:00am, There will be a reception 

in the Parish Hall immediately following  the service.
