Brendan Thomas Guastella passed away on December 12th, 2017 - calling for a truce with the cancer he hosted for nearly two years. The Allman Brothers, his favorite band, scored the scene as he rode his cosmic wave to eternal rest.

A man of the people, Brendan spent his years proudly serving the good residents of Park Slope and the surrounding areas as a lawyer, business consultant and friend.  His office was in the tallest tower of a Brooklyn landmark right across the street from Prospect Park - the perfect place for the blue-collar Prince Charming those who were lucky enough to meet him knew him to be.

Brendan's life was a lesson in how to cobble together your own fairy tale in the stead of real-life pitfalls.  A man of modest means and extreme frugality, Brendan would not hesitate to go above and beyond to make his family feel like royalty. No stranger to loss and personal tragedy, Brendan's optimism and emotional grace knew no relent and only got firmer with age.  His keen eye for beauty and magic on Earth was evident in the tenderness he harbored towards all mankind and immortalized with every photograph he took.

Brendan is not just survived by his sisters, his son and daughter, and his amazon warrior of a wife. He is survived by crisp autumnal bike rides, Entenmann's snack cakes with lots of chemicals in them, and every text message that inspires you to look to the heavens that reads, simply, "Cool sky."  

Though his physical vessel has ceased to be, you can be sure to find Brendan in every act of kindness you witness or enact in your day-to-day life just as much as you can spot him in every vibration caused by a slammed arm rest in reaction to every cursed New York Jets loss.
