My favorite memory of my mother is...

One Easter morning when I was a young teen we all were at my Grandmother's apartment for ham, eggs, and rice krispy treats. My mother was sitting proudly with her cup of coffee knowing that her kids were dressed cutely, all were relatively clean and all were being pretty well behaved even though we were crammed into my Grandma's studio apartment for a couple hours. When suddenly she jumped up and said, "oh my god, what is all over my legs"? There were quarter and egg size white spots all over her legs. Everyone was very alarmed and had no idea what they were. So my Dad and her rushed to the hospital just a block or so away leaving us kids with Grandma. When they came back about an hour later, she sheepishly walked into the apartment and told us that miraculously when she took her nylons off to get into the hospital gown for examination, the spots disappeared!! Her nylons had bleach spots on them. She was so embarrassed! She got dressed and her and my Dad quickly gathered her things and left the emergency room as calmly and gracefully as possible. To this day we laugh about this story like you would not believe and I don't think there is an Easter that I don't think about my Mom and her spotted nylons.
