Sylvester Boettcher

Sylvester W. Boettcher, 82, of Millburn passed away on March 22, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. in Short Hills on Monday, March 26 at 11:15am. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. 


Born and raised on a farm in Wisconsin, Sylvester lived in Millburn for over 60 years. He began his career with the Springfield Department of Public Works on November 11, 1956 and retired as Superintendent on December 1, 1997 after 41 years of service. Sylvester enjoyed bowling, trips to Atlantic City and spending time with his family.


Sylvester was the beloved husband of 62 years to Ida. He was the loving father of Jeffrey Boettcher and his wife Petra, Robert Boettcher and his wife Suzanne, Rosanne Boettcher and David Boettcher and his wife Dawn, He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Nina, Tara, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Tatum and Alexa, his dear sister in law, Antoinette Boettcher, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvester’s memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org.
