Adalyne French

Adalyne E. French, 98, of Wayne, NJ and Williamsburg, VA. passed away on April 11, 2018. A funeral service will be held at the Springfield Presbyterian Church, 210 Morris Ave. in Springfield, NJ on Monday, April 16th at 10am. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield on Sunday from 3 to 7pm. Born and raised in Newark NJ, she was one of the 15 children of John and Augusta (Kaas) Thiele. She also lived in Irvington and Bloomfield before moving to Wayne in 1963. Adalyne had resided in Williamsburg for the past 16 years. An active member of both the Bethany Presbyterian Church of Bloomfield and Wayne Presbyterian Church she also volunteered for many organizations in her community and her children’s schools. Adalyne enjoyed travel but most of all she loved spending time with her children and great grandchildren.


Adalyne was the beloved wife of 68 years to the late David C. French. She was the loving mother of Judith Yates and her husband Paul of Williamsburg, VA and David J. French and his wife Phyllis of Olathe, KS. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Timothy Yates and his wife Cailin, Kristen Yates, Stephanie French and Jennifer French and her husband Aaron Fast, great grandchildren, Kathleen, Shawn, Rem, Margaret, Elizabeth and Jack Yates and Evelyn French, and dear sister, Gladys Reed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adalyne’s memory may be made to Mission Cincinnati, P.O. Box 6006, Cincinnati, OH 45206 (please reference Rev. Kristen Yates in the memo).
