William Waller

William A. Waller, II “Bill”, 74, of Chatham, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill moved to Chatham as a child, where he attended Chatham Schools. He became a police officer in Chatham in 1964. In 1978, Bill rose to the rank of Detective Sergeant, until his retirement in 1988. While with the Chatham Police Department, Bill was a range officer, oversaw the maintenance of the police cars and was member of the P.B.A. Bill was also a great source of historical knowledge for the recent 100 year anniversary of the Chatham Police Department. Bill enjoyed growing orchids, tending to his tropical fish and taking vacations to the beach anywhere, but especially Aruba with their friends who shared their wedding anniversary. He could often be found working on or rebuilding a car, and always had a project parked in his backyard. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his wife, children and  grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Evelyn Mae Waller, and his aunt Margie Fusselman and his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Wagner; Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia K. (nee: McGuinness); children Alison Pignatello and her husband Jim, and Eric and his wife Deirdre; grandchildren Hayley Pignatello, Katie Pignatello, Ben Waller, Mya Waller, Delaney Pignatello and Zachary Waller; and his brother Robert Waller and his wife Nancy and his brother-in-law William McGuinness and his wife Barbara and his sister-in-law Barbara Perleth and borther-in-law Al Wagner and many nieces and nephews. Bill will also be missed by his companion, his beloved Labradoodle, Buster.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11am at St. Patrick Church, 85 Washington Avenue in Chatham. Cremation will be private.
