Richard Dallessio

Richard Dallessio, 60, of Chatham, New Jersey, died peacefully at the home he shared with his husband Kenneth De Carlo.


Richard was a member of the New York City Ballet Orchestra, and was Associate Principal Oboe and English Horn. He also performed with the Met Opera Orchestra, and taught at The Julliard School and Mannes College of Music. He leaves behind a legacy of many students, who have succeeded in the music business. Richard graduated with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music and was awarded the Chadwick Medal at graduation.


Richard grew up in Somerville, New Jersey, where he attended Immaculata High School, and was a member of the NJ All State Orchestra.


Richard is also survived by his brother Jerry Dallessio; sister Patricia Dallessio; nieces Joy Dallessio and Tatiana Zalewski; his beloved Aunt Jean Lucas; cousins Angela Kahn and Laura Stearns.


A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 12pm at the Wm. A Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham, New Jersey. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2:00pm-4:30pm and 7:00pm – 9:30pm
