Gerda Kolbe, 82, of Roselle Park, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday the 20th of July. Gerda was a resident of Roselle Park for most of her life. However, she never forgot her German heritage or family back home. As a homemaker who took pride in her role as Mom and Grandma, she loved to cook and entertain. Her favorite times of the year were holidays. Christmas celebrations were lavish affairs that were happy occasions and memorable. While her children were growing up she often sewed their clothing and made her own. She taught her grandchildren to sew and bake. She made beautiful afghans given away to many family and friends as well as donated to charitable events. She was beloved by many and will be sorely missed.

Gerda was predeceased by her beloved husband Herbert Kolbe in 2010 and her sister Irmgard Brinkmann. She was the loving mother of Marion Nechuta (Terry), Bernhard Kolbe and Michael Kolbe (Dawn) and cherished Oma of Erich, Danielle, Matthew, Samantha and Nicholas.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 119 Forest Avenue, Cranford, NJ. Cremation will be private.
