Mary Mastony

Mary Mastony, 98, of Berkeley Heights, NJ, passed peacefully in her home early in the morning, June 27, 2018. Born in Fall River, MA, she attended school in Scranton, PA. Mary received a BA degree from Penn State and a Master’s degree from Columbia U. Mary completed the coursework for a PhD at Rutgers University, but did not complete her theses. 

After teaching elementary school for a brief time in Washington, DC., she spent almost 40 years teaching in Plainfield, NJ, also teaching English for the foreign born. Mary loved cruises and cruised around the world on the QEII eleven times. She authored 4 books on her travels. 

She is a member of the Berkeley Heights Senior Citizens Club. Because of her passion for singing, she enjoyed being called the QEII Diva. 

Mary is pre-deceased by her brother Michael Mastony. She is survived by a niece, Julie (Ed) Lynch of New Providence, NJ, and a nephew, Frank Mastony (Helen) of Chester Springs, PA, and 9 grandnieces and nephews.
