Mary Loretta Kelly, 81, of Union, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018. Born on January 22, 1937 to Mary and Edward J. Reilly in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Mary has lived most of her life in Union. After graduating from Boston College, Mary enlisted in the Armed Forces. She was a Captain and a nurse in the Army who served in Vietnam. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Mary retired from the Newark Public School System after serving as a school nurse for many years. Throughout that time, she also remained steadfast in her Catholic faith. A Funeral Mass will be held for Mary on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:30am at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd in Union. Interment will follow at Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9am -10am at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue in Union.
