Mary Murphy, 87, (nee Twomey) of Summit, NJ, formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed peacefully at home on November 13, 2018. Born in Umeraboy, County Cork Ireland, Mary emigrated to the US in 1954. She lived in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Summit, NJ. Spent summers in Breezy Point, NY & winters in Florida. She loved her family, extended family and friends. Mary is a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit, former parishioner of St. Charles in Staten Island and Little Flower in Brooklyn. She loved baseball and the Mets were her favorite team. She also loved going for walks, yoga, traveling to Ireland. Mary is pre-deceased by her husband, Timothy F. Murphy, she is survived by her children, Mary Hammond and her husband Bill, Anna Murphy and her husband Ted Lockwood, Helen Tobin and her husband Kevin, Timothy Murphy and his wife Christine, grandmother of Emily, Brendan & Owen Hammond, Meghan & James Lockwood, Christopher & Andrew Tobin, Connor, Jack & Brian Murphy. Mary is pre-deceased by 11 loving siblings, John, Dennis, Jeremiah, Phillip, Timmy, Julia, Nora, Nellie, Kay, Anne and Bridie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 9:30 am. Interment St. Teresa’s Cemetery.
