LifeStory

Clara Loth

Clara Ann Loth, 79, of Whippany, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born prematurely in Newark at Columbus Hospital weighing 3 pounds.  Her petite stature belied her huge spirit, wit, and love of life. While she was an only child, she grew up in Chatham surrounded by a large extended Italian family. Like her mother, she was a legendary cook and baker who never followed a recipe. In her home there was always room for another plate on the table.

After graduating from Chatham High School, Clara went on to attend the Katharine Gibbs School. She worked as an office manager for Chase for 20 years where she organized everyone and everything with perfection.  Her favorite thing to do was caring for others, and to spend time with friends, and family, especially the grandchildren and granddogs. When not cooking, she was an avid reader of historical fiction.  She has lived in Whippany for 49 years.

Clara is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ted; children Ted and his wife Suzy and Anne Trautman; grandchildren Andrew, Matthew and Abigail Loth and William Trautman, and granddogs Coco and Lola.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Avenue in Cedar Knolls at 9:30AM.  Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. There will be a visitation on Friday from 4-9pm at the Bradley Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd., Whippany.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Clara may be made to Minette’s Angels by visiting www.minettesangels.org.
