Ernest “Ernie” E. Seely of Whippany passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the age of 90. Ernie was born on October 10, 1928 to Edward & Sonia (nee Haliniak) Seely in Clifton, N.J.
Ernie had lived in Whippany for the past 10 years. Prior to that he lived in Bloomfield. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
From a very young age, Ernie was a gifted artist with an extraordinary talent for creating and constructing projects from the simplest of models to residential developments and industrial buildings. He was the proprietor of E.E. Seely & Company of Bloomfield, specializing in residential and commercial building until his retirement in 1985.
As well as being a skilled craftsman, Ernie owned and operated several restaurants. He also was an avid reader. He had a passion for poetry, history, and politics. In his later years he spent much of his time designing and creating windmills.
Ernie was the loving husband for 64 years to Marion (Zawistowski) Seely; devoted father of Thomas Seely & his wife Theresa; cherished grandfather of Alexandra Seely and Michael Hunter & his wife Drionna ; great-grandfather of Grayson and Evelyn Hunter; dear brother of Doris Johnson , John Harrington & his wife Roz, the late Robert Seely, the late Lorraine Smith, and the late Edward Harrington. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, on Monday January 21st from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with prayer service to be held during the gathering. Services will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, N.J. on Tuesday January 22nd at 2:30 p.m. The family will be gathering at the funeral home at 11:30 prior to leaving for the cemetery.
