I have many fond memories of the time Carol came out to stay with us in Reno. I think she was about eighteen. She came to help because my Mom was ill and my brothers and I were little. She was great fun to be with, like a cool much older sister. And she could always make my Mom laugh--though I think Carol could make anyone laugh.

I remember Carol being especially good at cleaning--she had an efficient organization for the dishwasher and was incredibly neat and tidy, something we, sad to admit, were not all that used to. For our part, we had her trying outdoor activities that she was not used to--like hiking, playing games like Duck, Duck, Goose in the snow, ice skating on our frozen ponds. She also drove us to and from our many activities in a little white Dodge that she bought in Reno.

I also remember that while she was out with us, she received an unexpected delivery of flowers from a certain Walter Althoff. Those flowers made her very happy!
