Dreaming at the Bay Club

By Steven Carlson

Some of my favorite times with Amit were bumping into him at the Bay Club '77 Lounge.  Amit was in his element there.  He was a consummate wheeler-dealer, and he knew everyone.  He delighted in connecting people, and figuring out how people could fit together and make things happen.  He loved hearing about people's successes, and he grinned when talking about his own plans for the next big thing.  He had a great grin.

I also saw him at UC Berkeley one evening as I was about to drive home, while he was arranging a ride.  He was more than happy to jump in with me for a lift home.  He was in Berkeley for a meeting with the Young Presidents Organization, which he adored.  He talked about Brandon and Connor, and how proud he was of his boys.  I remember his talking about how around the dinner table, he'd have Brandon and Connor talk about their passions.

And Amit was a great Little League dad.  He loved being at the games, cheering the kids, and generally being part of the crew.  He made time for it all, and it was clear how happy he was to be with his boys.

We miss Amit.  Lorena, Brandon, Connor, you were lucky to have him as long as you did, and we're heartbroken for you all that it wasn't for longer.
