Louise Kobukowski

Predeceased by her parents John (1964) and Marie (1931) (nee Fisher) Gelsleichter, brothers John (1988) and Robert (2009), beloved daughter Jean M. Hilton (2016), stepmother 1985, and husband Stanley J. (1976). Surviving are her brother Herman of Elizabeth, NJ, stepbrother Donald of Montana, and devoted grandson David S. Hilton of Springfield, NJ who is the greatest.


Louise was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and moved to N.J. with an aunt at age 15. Worked at N.J. Bell Telephone Company for 2 years, leaving to get married to her brother’s best friend, Stanley from W-B, PA in 1946. She moved to Washington, D.C. where their daughter Jean was born and moved to Riverdale, MD when Jean was about 4 years old. Louise was a stay at home wife and mom. She was a Brownie Leader and took care of a friend’s baby. She moved to Springfield, NJ in 1958. After Stanley’s passing, Louise worked for Chubb Insurance Co. of Warren, NJ for 15 years and retired as Senior Clerk in 1991. Louise was a volunteer at St. James church for over 20 years. She belonged to the Springfield Senior Citizens as their treasurer. Louise enjoyed knitting afghans for family and friends as well watching Judge Judy and Jeopardy.


A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. Interment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please do a good deed for an older person.
