Katherine Koehler

Katherine Koehler of Union, New Jersey passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Kathi was born on January 22, 1934 to Richard & Katherine Pultar and was a lifelong resident of Union.  She was a devout member of Holy Spirit Church, and past president of the Rosary Altar Society and will be remembered as a woman of God with a generous heart who loved and is loved.  Kathi was a lifetime member of Bayern Verein Newark and the Deutcher Club of Clark.


Katherine will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 64 years, Paul Koehler; her devoted children Katherine Magnifico, Paul Koehler Jr and wife Cheryl, Kenneth Koehler and wife Susan, Kristine Saunders and husband Frank, and Karoline Maiorano and husband Vincent. Her 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren will cherish their memories of ‘Omi’.  Katherine is survived by her four sisters:  Mary Pultar, Lorraine Nemeth, Myranne Golonka and Betty Felton: and her brother Richard Pultar.  Her many nieces and nephews will also miss ‘Tante Kathi’.  Katherine was most happy when working in the garden surrounded by her butterflies and birds.  Her love of gardening, card games, and baking for holiday feasts will live on in her family and friends for generations.


Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 17th from 3-7 PM at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union.  A funeral mass will be offered on Monday, March 18th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1212 Kelly Street, Union at 9:15 AM, with interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Katherine’s name to Deutscher Club of Clark Inc., Scholarship Fund, 787 Featherbed Land, Clark, New Jersey 07066.

Amy Felton-Toth
Forever grateful for my Tanti Kathi, a formative role model for me for many things I hold precious, most importantly family. She will be greatly missed by many. My heart is breaking for my uncle, cousins and extended family and I am sad I won't be there this week to celebrate her life.
