What's the best piece of advice your mom ever gave you?
My Mom once gave me the harshest (sounding) piece of advice I'd ever heard, advice that she was once given herself when she was my age... But the more I though about it afterwards, the more I realised that it was true and honestly, not as stinging as it sounds at first. "You're not that important that people are always thinking about you.......... They're too busy thinking about themselves." It's so true. We are all so wrapped up thinking about what other people think of us, about what we do. We constantly expect backlash and scrutiny from others for a decision we make. We hold back because we're so scared that people will judge us for our life choices and this anxiety stops us from doing things that we love or that make us happy or from taking that risk. When in fact, everyone around us is to tied up in their own thoughts that they're really not thinking about us as much as we think they are, and that's something we all need to remember from time to time.
