Erna D. Allen, 81, of Union, formerly of Irvington passed away on March 31, 2019. A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, 210 Morris Ave. in Springfield on Saturday, April 13th at noon.  Interment is private.  Friends are invited to visit from 10am to noon at the church, prior to the service. Born and raised in Newark, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Wheeler) Mager, Erna attended West Side High School. She had also lived in Irvington for many years before moving to Union.  Erna was a cashier at the Shoprite in Garwood until her retirement in 2015.  A longtime, active member of her church, she loved dachshunds and enjoyed needlepoint and playing rummy.

Erna was the beloved wife of the late Donald S. Allen. She was the loving mother of Doreen DeRenzo, Diane Mauriello and her husband Michael and the late Donald Allen.  She is also survived by her cherished grandson Matthew DeRenzo, her dear brother Edwin Mager as well as many nieces, Nephews and friends.  In lieu of flowers, donaions in Erna’s memory may be made to The American Heart Association,  1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ  08691
