Pearl Lenhart

Pearl Frances Mary Lenhart, a long-time resident of Springfield, NJ, passed away peacefully Friday the 12th of April at Morristown Medical Center.


Born in 1935 to parents Albert Thomas and Ellen Louise Knights, Pearl was raised in the seaside community of Felixstowe, England. She worked as a secretary at Burton, Son and Sanders Ltd. in Ipswich, then as a research assistant at Levington Research Station in Levington, England. Upon marriage, Pearl immigrated to the U.S. in 1959. She worked as a teacher’s aide for 30 years at Caldwell Elementary School in Springfield, NJ. Pearl was proud to become a U.S. citizen in 1997.


Pearl enjoyed knitting, gardening, cooking and shopping and never lost her love for the perfect cup of English tea.


A devoted mother and wife, she is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Lenhart, a retired Springfield firefighter, her four children, Karen Cook (Michael), Andrew, Brian, and Yvette Lenhart, and her granddaughter, Nicole Cook. She is also survived by her sister Christine Bentley, nieces and nephews, Diane Heathcote (Steven), Stephanie Johnson, Elizabeth Bartenbach, and Angela Knights. She is predeceased by her brother Perry Knights (Margaret).
