Ann Flammer

Ann Marie Barone Flammer, 97, took her final breath peacefully on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter’s home in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Ann, as she was known to so many, was a charismatic, hard-working, and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.   From her birth in Sicilia, Italy to her death on Wednesday, she nourished people with her love, faith, and home cooking. She was born on the island of Sicily to Onorfria and Alfonso Barone and was the youngest of 12 siblings.  Ann and her family emigrated to the United States after many years in Italy, relocated to Jersey City, and eventually Union after she met and married the love of her life, Edward Flammer.  She grew up surrounded by family and lived a life filled with joy.  Ann worked for more than 20 years in the fashion industry as a sales associate and talented seamstress.  During her time at St. Michael’s Church, she was active parishioner and an intricate member of the Catholic Daughter’s and Rosary Society. Ann truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: cooking for her friends and family, traveling, and spending as much time as she could with her 18 great-grandchildren.

Left to honor Ann and remember her love are Ann’s children, John (Rosemary) Flammer and Elaine (Michael) Kunigonis; six grandchildren, John (Cathryn) Flammer, Cathy (Clint) Anuszewski, Michael (Laura) Kunigonis, Joseph (Christine) Kunigonis, Ann Marie (Bradley) Maroyka, Mary Elizabeth (Raleigh) Woodruff and 18 great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, all 12 siblings, and her loving husband Edward.  Ann will be remembered as a caring mother, dedicated grandmother, beautiful aunt, kind friend, lovely sister, and inspiring great-grandmother.

A Mass for Ann Marie Barone Flammer, formerly of Union, will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1212 Kelly St. in Union, NJ. “When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens, I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.”  –St. Therese
