Raymond J. Cooney, 93, of New Providence passed away on June 11, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace, 111 South St. in New Providence on Saturday, June 15th at 11am.  Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit.  Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Brough & Dangler’s, 299 Morris Ave., in Summit on Friday from 5 to 9pm.

Born in Lansdowne, PA, the son of Arthur and Loretta (Fitzgerald) Cooney, Raymond was raised in nearby Narbeth. He had resided in New Providence for the past 66 years.  Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Seton Hall College.  Most recently, he worked as the site manager for the Elisabeth Barabash Manor in New Providence.  Previously, he was the President of REDCO Industries.  Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council  #783 and the Lions Club of New Providence.  He enjoyed golfing and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Raymond was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne Cooney.  He was the loving father of James Cooney (Joanne), Patricia Coursault (Robert), Barbara Jacques (Leonard), Kathleen Reichard (Perry), Geraldine Longley, and Michael Cooney (the late Annemarie).  He is also survived by his cherished 19 grandchildren and 8 (with 2 on the way) great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymonds memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7 Ridgedale Avenue, Suite 103, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
