What's the best piece of advice your mom ever gave you?
In my twenties, I told Mama I was studying past life regressions with a group at the Blue Moon bookstore. It had been suggested I was a former member of the Roosevelt family and that my current birth name failed to capture the magnitude of my presence. Mama paused and looked at me for a time before she said. “Leigh, it is good to seek one’s true self, just be careful not to be trapped by self-serving grandiose distinctions. Authenticity cannot be found with your ego.” Miffed, I said “Well, we have never really discussed it, where we come from, the higher being and such, what do you think?” Mama said, “You know what I think.” I said, “No, I don’t.” She said “Oh good gracious girl, don’t you know, we come from aliens!” Francine Sanders authentic until 2006.
