Robert Sailstad

Robert (Bob) Sailstad, 82, of Inver Grove Heights, passed away after succumbing to the effects of a recent stroke on Monday, September 23, 2019 at United Hospital in St. Paul.

He was born in Duluth on June, 21, 1937 to Winslow and Helen Sailstad. A 1955 graduate of Duluth East High School, He went on to achieve both Industrial Education and Accounting degrees from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He also earned his CPA designation. Bob met his future wife, Marlene, while working for Winslow’s Hallmark. They were married on August 27, 1959. Bobs’ career experiences included the Duluth Regional Care, Sellwood Bonderson Accounting, legal administrator for Hanft Fride Law Firm, tax accountant for McGladrey & Pullen Accounting Firm, and Wells Fargo’s mortgage and loan department. He was very active in many organizations in the community. Volunteering with Animal Allies, Bethany Crisis Shelter, Duluth Lighthouse for the Blind, Junior League of Duluth, North Star Fire Department, and Duluth Lion’s Club. 

Bob was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Kent (Mary), Tim (Michele) and Rob (Mary); grandchildren; Jonathan & Megan (Tim), Luke & Andrew (Rob), and brother (Rick);  numerous nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

A celebration of Bob’s life is scheduled for Saturday, October 5th, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 in the August Fitger Room at the Fitger’s Complex in Duluth.
