We met while I was tour guiding, early 20's. I was just me little Geri and then there was Stella she was larger than life. I was so drawn to her energy and personality, and who wasn't. She came into my life for a reason and it went on from there. We were a great combination. I hadn't worn make up and I still really don't, but Stella got me dressed up and looking like a doll a few times.
We worked many tours together as tour guides throughout North America. We both had bus loads of 47 Seniors for 21 days. OMG the stories I could tell, we laughed our asses off.
We ended up working in the Yukon and Alaska for a season. That summer completely changed my life. Stella and I were recruited to tour guide but spent a good part of our summer in Whitehorse. The rest is history. I met Alice Kempff who is my very best friend, and this group who I now call the Yukon crew. Alastair, Lorraine, Steve, Susan, Carol. Gregg and Catherine.
After our work up North Alice, Stella and I became room mates in Calgary. Again sooo many stories and amazing memories.
Stellas and I lost touch for quite a few years. When we finally reconnected, as with most of us our lives had changed and we had both grown. I didn't say grown up, just grown. We kept in touch.
4 years ago Stella, Bill and Zoe came to Calgary for a visit. They went dog sledding, toured through Banff and the Rockies We met up in Vancouver where we had an amazing Yukon reunion with all the wonderful friends we worked with.
That was the last time I saw and talked to Stella.
Like in our lives, I know Stella and I will reconnect later on. She will be there to meet me with her crazy loving soul.
I Love and I can't even express how much her spirit of live added to mine. She added value to every person she encountered.
RIP my dear friend. XOXOXOX
I am flying and away till the end of August. I will post pictures then.

It was a number of years again until we shared time and it was when I celebrated my 60th birthday in 2006 and my husband gave me the gift of airfare so I could fly to Florida to see Stella and Irena. Although many years had passed since we were together, we were able to pick up from where we last saw each other in an instant. It was great to meet Bill and Zoe and I'm sure the legacy of their beloved Stella as mother and wife will always be a gift in their lives. Stella was without a doubt, a treasure to me, discovered in the Klondike and for her, I will eternally feel her spirit for as long as I'm here on Mother Earth.
