Did Marty like any critters?

Not only does Popop love seeing Chester but Chester is always ecstatic to see him too! He gives Popop and Grandma Sandy some of the most spirited greeting I have seen from the little guy. As they have both grown into distinguished older gentlemen their bond has only grown. Even though Chester can barely hear, see, or smell he somehow always manages to begin his high pitched cries of happiness as soon as Popop walks in the door.

How was Marty a technology early adopter?

Michael Waldman
Liz and I had our first date with Marty on a visit to an IBM showroom to buy our first-ever PC's in January 1985.
Steven Waldman
Dad was always ahead of the times with communication technology -- the Wallensack tape player, the most cutting edge Selectric and even a home copying machine.
Gordon Waldman
I may not have seen his initial adoption of early technology, but I have seen his continued acceptance and interest in the newest gadgets. While some people his age may jump back in fright at the sound of Siri's voice, Popop is always willing to explore and learn.

What are the most important things you've learned from Marty?

Steven Waldman
In the personal history he did for LifePosts, he answered the question "What message would you most like your loved ones to hear from you?" with this simple statement that pretty sums up his life philosophy: "Keep loving and caring for each other."

Also I was always so impressed by how ethical you were in your business dealings -- even when it would cost you money or business. I remember one company wanted you to do PR for wrapping papers for pot and you refused, even though they were your biggest client. That made a big impression on me.
Kathryn Janus
Steve - I'm impressed as you must have learned abstinence from your father, too. It's "rolling papers" not "wrapping papers."
Gordon Waldman
Honestly, how to be a great grandfather. I seriously believe that one day when I have grandkids of my own I will think back and ask myself WWPD (What would Pop-Pop do)? He gave us grandkids the perfect mix of lovable goofiness and wise words of wisdom.
Joseph Waldman
Amazing stories from the early days of TV! Like how advertisers subbed in mashed potatoes for ice cream during commercials.

What have you learned from Marty?

Steven Waldman
FROM SANDY: To check and double check written items to make sure they are accurate; if something can go wrong, it generally will.
Gordon Waldman
Always make sure the water level is higher than the jets when you turn on the jacuzzi bathtub!! Also unlike my father, Pop-pop is a huge proponent of toasting bagels which I learned to be very key. His bagel making skills may have even inspired me to work as a bagel boy at my local coffee shop.
Steven Waldman
How to carve a turkey!
Pay contractors and vendors promptly.
How aperture and shutter speed setting affect the photo.
Dont sign petitions in case there's another red scare.
Clean your bar-b-que regularly.
When doing TV, pretend that you're in their living room (no shouting)
It's never your child's fault; blame someone else.
About The Big lie.

Is there a phrase or saying Marty likes to say?

Amy Cunningham
Sandy, get on the phone!
Steven Waldman
Hold your horses. Take it easy. Calm down.

Scum of the earth
Michael Waldman
Careful, you'll get a rupture.

What would you say to Marty on his 90th birthday?

Steven Waldman
FROM SANDY: We have spent most of our lives together. We can finish each other's sentences. We look out for each other. Our love for each other has never diminished. Happy 90 Marty. With much love from your Sandy.
Steven Waldman
Joseph Waldman
You don't look a day over 70! Also thanks for being the best grandpa I could ever ask for. Looking forward to hearing more stories about the dawn of television and talking politics at our next Jubilee dinner.
