Brett was the best man at my wedding and I was his. He and Donna lived in San Jose, California after they were married, and Karen, I and Alex moved out to that area a few years later, where we continued to have fun times together.
Brett always liked researching his toys and gadgets, both small and large, from flashlights to stereos, bikes, golf clubs, cars or boats. He was always excited to find the one that met his high standards and had the best performance. I remember him saying “Whoever has the most toys wins.”
He always had a positive attitude and loved whatever we were doing. He never complained much about anything. If life dealt him a setback he would deal with it and move on.
After Karen, Alex and I moved from San Jose to San Diego we didn’t see him and Donna as often. But when we got together it didn’t matter if we hadn’t seen each other in a while, we would pick up where we left off. Time and distance didn’t really matter.
About 7 months ago he decided to move down to San Diego to be closer to Karen and me and other friends in this area. We feel blessed to have had the last 7 months to reconnect with Brett and share some more fun times. He had a lot of life left to live, and he was looking forward to experiencing it. He was a great, close life-long friend and we will miss him dearly. He will always live in our hearts.
