Devout Christian, 44 year career at Western Electric
Charles Karol Wolf passed into eternal life on Sunday, April 22, 2018 after a brief illness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and Christian. He lived his life in quiet humility and grace.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he moved to Florham Park, NJ in 1952 with his wife and two children. He worked his entire career at Western Electric Company, retiring after 44 years of service. He held various managerial positions at Kearny, Jersey City, Hillside and Clark, NJ facilities. He participated in the development and production of the first underwater repeaters and equalizers used in the first transatlantic telephone cable between the US and England. His important work during WWII kept him on the homefront, contributing to the Allied cause.
Charles was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, which was organized in 1956. Over the years he served as Council President, choir member, cantor, lecter and worship assistant. His daily walk as a Christian was his top priority and all who knew him could attest to that fact.
He had a lifelong interest in radio and tech equipment and held several amateur radio operators licenses, dating back to 1935. He was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eleanor Relle Wolf, and his son, Charles K. Jr. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Nancy Schmidt and her husband Richard Schmidt of Bethlehem, PA and daughter-in-law, Denise Wolf and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family at the Bradley Funeral Home, Main St., Chatham, NJ on Thursday, April 26th, from 10am to 12pm. A service of the Resurrection will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Florham Park, NJ at 12:30pm, following by interment at Hanover Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
