Went to the Canal in Indiana. Laurie always wanted to share the fun and unusual places and she knew all the history and details. She was always curious and eager to learn. I miss her laughter. It was infectuous

Ghost hunting (she led- no fear!!!), picnics or times at the beach with all the kids, going to places or festivals or just weird places she had heard of, road trips with her and jan, sharing stories of growing up and how different our perceptions were, just BEING with Laurie....

We all would complain about something or the other and Laurie coined her phrase of "pearls of fester." (Remember that pearls are formed because of irritations)... She would talk of pearls of fester, elaborating more and more as her story wove on, complete with her voice changing to what you would think of as older hills lady, with hills twang, rocking on a porch somewhere.... and pretty soon, you forgot about your own pearls of fester, just listening to this creative mind spin yet another tale..... God, Laurie had a WONDERFUL imagination........ I wish I had that on video

Her imagination, creativity, her incredible, encyclopedic knowledge of so many different things - whether it was old movies, local history, the Dunes, folklore.... so many, many things. Her ability to take an idea from a couple of words and weave a story.... she was one of the smartest people that I have ever known and one who would never acknowledge it. She LOVED her kids with all her heart and soul.... she loved her family and her family- all of us- loved her.....
